Check out the video of our new Vintage Tote Bag. Its available for preorder now. This video is guaranteed to be the only one on the net where a tote bag is referred to as a "swiss army knife" and a "daily driver". Please forgive my overt gender biased metaphors.
The Vintage Tote Bag
is on the site now. We're in the process of making these now. Get on the mailing list and we'll let you know as soon as they're in stock.
Paul Strowger is a customer and talented photographer as well. He was kind enough to pass along these photos of his vintage messenger bag as well as his bifold wallet. You can check out more of Paul's photography at his flickr page.
We're working on a bag adapted from the military duffels issued to soliders for decades. We've made this version a little smaller than general issue bags, but still large enough to hold quite a bit. The top load functionality really allows you to stuff these things solid.
We still have some kinks to work out with the hardware, but this one is coming along nicely.
One of the things I love about vegetable tanned leather is how quickly it transforms with regular use. I was in a hotel the other day and my vintage messenger was on the couch here and I couldn't help but snap a quick pic. Its really coming along nicely.
I snapped this pic of my Dad's old military duffel bag on my last visit home. I love this type of top load duffle. We've used this bag for years and though its taken a beating, its held up well. You can attribute this to lack of stress points. You can cram these things full and never worry about busting a zipper.
One of my favorite parts is you can still see the Delta Airlines luggage tag from when he flew back to Macon, GA in 1971. This bag is really inspiring to me for a number of reasons. I hope to do an updated version of it soon.
On the heels of the Vintage Messenger Bag, we've decided to go ahead and do a leather tote bag. A tote is about as utilitarian as they come. I like them because they're simple, functional, and last forever. We've used the same leathers as the messenger, but included some copper rivets in the handles which I really like. We're still working through the back order on the messenger, but this one shouldn't be far behind.
Also have a lot of other stuff in the works for 2013. Stay tuned....
Certainly 2012 wasn't without its challenges. We're still fulfilling back orders on messenger bags due to leather delays, but we're working through it. I am proud of the new products that 2012 brought us. The bifold wallet, vintage guitar strap, canned picks, and the vintage messenger bag were all great to work on. And well received to boot...
2013 is going to be a great year. We have lots of products in the works that I think you're going to love. I want to be sure to let ya'll know how appreciative we are to have you as customers. I sincerely hope you're getting the same fulfillment out of your work as we are every day.
When the end of the world comes, guitar picks will likely become the default currency. Those with a pantry stocked with canned picks will rule the earth. Be sure to be prepared with Whipping Post Brand Canned Picks. 20 to a can. 1mm in thickness.
In all seriousness, this was fun little stocking stuffer I worked on with graphic designer Brady Clark. These picks are canned by a sardine cannery up in Maine. To my knowledge, the first time guitar picks have been canned.
We picked a less than ideal time to relocate HQ to NYC, but we're encouraged by the spirit and sense of community here in Manhattan.
The power is back on and we're catching up on emails. Also look for inventory to be replenished in the upcoming weeks. We really appreciate all your patience and kind words.
